Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about pricing, offline usage, report formats, and data privacy.

Does Home Inspector work offline?
Yes — the entire app runs offline. There's no login, no cloud sync, and no internet connection required. Every inspection, photo, template, and report is stored locally on your device.
Which devices does it support?
Home Inspector is built for iPhone and iPad. The interface adapts automatically — iPad gets a sidebar layout, iPhone gets a tab bar. Check the App Store listing for the current minimum system requirement on your device.
What report formats can I export?

Both PDF and Excel (.xlsx). Each export uses five built-in themes — Modern, Classic, Minimal, Professional, and Bold — and includes the inspection photos, condition donut, priority bar chart, section overview, and cost-estimate summary.

You pick one format per report so you don't end up with duplicate files.

Is my data private?
Completely. The app never uploads your data anywhere — there is no account system, no analytics SDK, and no third-party services. All inspection data stays in the app's sandbox on your device. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.
How do I back up my inspections?
Use the in-app backup option in Settings to create a .hibackup zip containing your data. You can copy that file to iCloud Drive, a USB drive, or any cloud service of your choosing — it's a normal file on disk.
Can I create reusable inspection templates?
Yes. Build a template once (sections, items, expected conditions, default priorities) and reuse it for every inspection. Templates can also be shared as JSON files — open one from Mail, Files, or AirDrop and the app will import it.
Is there a subscription?
No. Home Inspector is a one-time purchase on the App Store — no subscription, no hidden fees.
Which currency is used for cost estimates?
Any of 60+ world currencies. Pick your currency once in Settings → Currency, and it applies to all cost entries plus the PDF and Excel report totals.
Can I rename the fields and condition labels?
Yes. Every user-facing label — condition names (Good / Fair / Poor), priority levels, and field names in reports — is customisable from Settings. Your changes flow through into generated PDFs and Excel exports.
Is an Android version planned?
Not at the moment. Home Inspector is built natively for iOS using Apple's current SwiftUI and SwiftData frameworks, which don't exist on Android. If there is enough interest we may revisit it in the future — let us know.
